Polly LohHi there, I am Polly Loh, born in the little red dot known as Singapore. My late grandmother was a Peranakan (Teochew Chinese + Indonesian Malay) and in this region and for that generation, they are undoubtly great cooks. My late grandfather was a Thai Hokkien Chinese so his wife would also try to cater to his taste bud. The odd thing is when I was young, I was not interested in cooking. Traditional Asian mothers and grandmothers never fail to chase kids out of the ‘hot’ kitchen. I imagine that they were worried about me waging a knife war with them. Now that I have my very own kitchen, I am beginning to experiment.

I regard Australia and France as my second and third home since I studied and worked there for many years. I travel extensively too so you will find that my idea of food is diversity and variety. I beg for and modify recipes I find interesting. I will also try to recreate lost recipes from my family by remembering the taste and smell.

Disclaimer
I am not a chef or writer by profession but I simply love to make something out of ‘nothing’. I try my best to write everything with credible source and you will find my grammar horrendous. Every now and then, my modern instinct of laziness will also kick in and urge me to take shortcuts. Hence, you will find cooking tips and techniques for beginner cooks to keep their kitchen clean and green.
